Facebook privacy is not something to be taken lightly. Most of us use the site as a way to connect with family and friends, but beware the friend request from someone you don't know. It is up to you to decide who your friends really are, and it's your responsibility to make sure you have proper security settings. Don't take the fun out of being social, protect yourself and loved ones from being harmed.
My current privacy settings are set almost exclusively for friends only, with the exception of friend requests. I sometimes get a request from someone I don't know, or someone I don't want to have access to my life, can you say "delete"?
I have made changes to my Facebook page over time, mostly getting rid of photos that are not professionally flattering, and making sure that posts do not contain profanity or things that are offensive. I have changed settings that no longer allow people to search for me using my phone or email, if you don't know me, you don't need to. Facebook is all about friends, make sure you know who yours are :)

best baking apples

Honeycrisp
Granny Smith
Gala
These are 3 of my top favorites for making apple desserts of any kind. I have Gala apple trees in my orchard that you are welcome to pick a few and bring them to the kitchen, I'll have a pie ready in time for your dessert!

Here's the recipe I use, handed down from my grandma and made for years right in this very kitchen.

Filling:
3/4 cup plus 1 teaspoon sugar, divided
1/8 teaspoons ground cinnamon, divided
8 baking apples, peeled, cored and cut into thick slices
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons butter, softened
1 teaspoon lemon juice

Crust (2 crusts)
3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-vegetable shortening
6 tablespoons boiling water
2 teaspoons milk
1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt

The actual instructions are top secret, so you'll have to come and see me, I have LOTS of apples!
You are also welcome to stop by for the day and pick some apples of your own to take home. We also have pumpkins and squash, come on over and see what else we have.

You are always welcome in our home. Our lovely 5 bedroom house has been in the Deiss family for 4 generations and is filled with warmth and charm. During your stay with us, you will be treated like one of the family. Each cozy bedroom has it's own private bath and either a gas or wood fireplace, along with breathtaking views of the lake and forest that are just a few steps away from the wraparound porch we will gladly serve you coffee and tea each morning.

We serve three home-cooked meals each day in our spacious dining room that also looks out onto the fantastic view of the lakefront. We have canoes and rowboats that are at your disposal, and also have lovely walking paths if you're inclined to take a stroll through the woods. In the evenings we have bonfires and marshmallow roasts, and also transportation to local spots and events, either by horse and wagon, or our restored Woody station wagon.
